PALETTE BY NATURE, All PLANT BASED NAURAL HAIR COLOR AND PERMANENT HIGHLIGHTS
In the article : Hair color to dye for: the good, the bad and the ugly on natural cover-ups - natural hair dyes, published in Vegetarian Times, Sept, 1998 Laurie Berger said : "In a nation obsessed with youth and beauty, changing hair color is nearly as commonplace as changing clothes. Three out of every five American women aged 18 to 55 now tint their locks, according to the Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA)."
In the same article about natural hair coloring Laurie Berger puts significant argument about linking permanent hair coloring treatment and cancer. She stated that recent studies linking hair color with an increase in certain cancers are making women rethink this rite of passage. She is also referring to studies done by the University of Washington and published in the American Journal of Public Health (July 1994) reported that women who dye their hair have a 50 percent greater risk of developing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A 1994 study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Cancer Society suggested an association between prolonged use (20 years or more) of darker dyes and cancer. While argument about toxicity of permanent hair coloring treatment is still debated it makes many to think about alternatives. Laurie Berger than argues in favor of natural hair color : “What makes hair dyes harmful? In a word: chemicals. To achieve luscious shades of chestnut brown or mahogany, permanent hair dyes must contain both color and a developer. The developer actively lifts the outside covering (or "cuticle") of the hair, allowing easier access for the color to penetrate. Sounds simple--except that the developer contains a not-so-simple (or healthy) combination of peroxide and ammonia, which not only alters the molecular structure of hair and damage it, but may cause allergic reactions. While these chemicals are not carcinogenic, they can be very dangerous to those with chemical sensitivities. Permanent dyes also contain tiny but potentially harmful petrochemicals (like coal tar), which, like developer, penetrate the hair shaft to deposit color."
After analysis of all natural coloring products she is also stating that natural colors used in so-called natural hair coloring products are: “a giant step in the right direction, but at the heart of the issue lies an inherent dilemma.” She than puts a important argument about existing natural hair coloring products that the more "natural" product is, it less effectively covers gray. The more effective it is, the more chemicals it contains. And because no dyes (neither synthetic nor natural) are regulated by the FDA, “brands that call themselves natural and claim to be safe and effective may actually contain as many--and as harmful--toxins as the synthetics."
In recently published article "Colour Quandary" by www.which.co.uk, October 2007, p.20-22 – almost 10 years later - authors did very elaborate research and tested almost all claimed "Natural Permanent Hair Colorants" that are available on the market. The verdict was “Natural doesn’t mean a hair dye will be free of chemicals. For a dye to be truly permanent, it’s likely to contain PPD…."
Before creating “Palette by Nature Natural Hair Color” and “All Natural Highlights” we had about 50 years combined experience of research, development, extraction, production and application of all types of dyes- natural and synthetic. What exactly Permanent Hair Color means and why it must contain PPD? Let’s take a look at different industries. In textile industry PPD based dyes or being more precise oxidative dyes were used for more than 100 years. In textile industry “permanent” means resistant to multiple treatments. For example, multiple washing cycles is a standard criteria. The conditions of these treatments are standardized and published in the AATCC Manual (Society of Chemists and Colorists). This way everyone can test a dye and determine how permanent this dye treatment is. By the way, oxidative (PPD based) dyes were vastly replaced by other more effective dyes due to irreproducibility of color and chronic exposure of personal to corrosive and toxic substances involved in this technology. Only few countries like Russia are still employ this technology for dyeing black woolen scarves that are sold mostly as souvenirs.
For the above reasons we created new terminology called RBE Colors. Yes, it is technically complicated to create all natural plant based, PPD free hair color. It is easier to put a lot of plant based materials in the “Natural Hair Color” and a little bit of paraphenilene diamine (PPD), or m-aminophenol, or para-tetra-phenilene diamine and make color permanent. Our invention is not a secret. We spent time, and effort, and we developed technology enabling us to make pure, plant based, PPD free dye and make it “permanent”. We have no secrets. We disclose all our key ingredients. You can review our ingredients list for “Palette by Nature Natural Hair Color” and “All Natural Highlights” below:
Ingredients:
Aqua (Purified Water), Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Leaf Extract, Rubia Cordifolia Root Extract, Indigofera Tinctoria Extract, CI 58000 from Rubia Tinctorum Root Extract, CI 73015 from Indigofera Tinctoria Extract, Beetroot Extract , Quercetin, Rutin, Haematoxylum Braziletto Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Astaxanthin, Beta-Carotene, CI 75810 from Chlorophyllin- Copper Complex, Iron-Chlorophyllin Complex, Annatto, Gardenia Jasminoides Fruit Extract, Zinc Gluconate, Zinc Aspartate, Calcium Gluconate, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, Saffron Crocus (Crocus Sativus) Extract, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Gluconate, Magnesium Aspartate, Magnesium Citrate, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Green Tea Extract, Anthocyanins, Pomegranate Extract, Sweet Almond Oil, 100% pure essential oils.
Yes, it does take time and effort to extract plant dye from Indigofera Tinctoria. It requires several extraction cycles and hi-tech extraction process until you get super pure dye precursor and than blue dye- Indigo Carmine or CI 73015. Yes, it takes skill and knowledge combining this dye with other elements such as colored active antioxidants or bioflavonoids like Quercetin from Red Clover, Rutin from Padoga-Tree, and Chlorophyll from Alfa-Alfa and make all natural hair color that is not harmful but good. This composition is not just capable of hair coloring but also delivering active bioflavonoids, antioxidants and minerals to your scalp and skin.
To give you reliable, safe, and good alternative to PPD based and so-called “Natural” hair colorants we decided to create the Palette by Nature All Plant Based Permanent Highlights for home use. BLUE GARDENIA FOR SILVER GREY ALL NATURAL COLORING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
In the article published in The Beauty Journal, August 2007, p.36 Colorist Shari Harbinger, of the Devachan Salon and Departure Lounge, in New York City, “finds that her clients are bothered by the yellow tinge that often accompanies gray hair”
This is due to two basic factors. You may still have residual melanin in a hair shaft and/or your hair protein- keratin makes your hair look yellowish. In material science this problem is solved by optical brightening of the material. Generally optical brighteners shift yellow color to blue. It has nothing to do with peroxide bleach. How about a bit of binding blue dye to your everyday shampoo and conditioner to make your yellow- grey look silver? Great idea! But if you ever attempted to do so, how many coloring shampoos and conditioners have you tried and what was the result? The fundamental dilemma is that surfactants in the shampoos are actually acting as dye retardants. In other words, it was impossible to wash and color your hair at the same time. We engaged in this problem and used our knowledge and expertise to make it happened. We went one step further in creating all natural coloring shampoo and conditioner formula containing all plant based dyes. We used same principals and same safe all natural ingredients to make this product. Please view carefully instructions before use. You will get visible effect from the very first application.
